Making Money Online - Basic Concept

I ran across an interesting article that argued, correctly I believe, that every method of making money on the Internet revolves around two simple concepts. They are:
Divert
Convert
First, you divert traffic - you can, for example, write articles about a topic, post them to Ezinearticles and when that article is picked up by Google (on the first page if you understand how to correctly write the article!), you'll then be in a position to start diverting some of the traffic that Google gets. Let's face facts, Google has a HUGE share of the search engine market - they get millions of people coming every day to their site - and all you're going to do is 'divert' some of that traffic to a website of your choosing. Of course, article marketing is just one method of diverting traffic, you could also do it with Pay Per Click - simply paying Google for some of their traffic... you can also divert traffic from other sites with links, banners, or paid advertising. The idea here is simply to find traffic on the Internet - and figure out a way that you can 'divert' some of that traffic to your chosen site. Now that you have traffic that you've diverted from someone else - you have to convert that traffic into money. That can be as simple as a CPA emails submit campaign, where you ask the incoming visitors to sign up their email address for some offer - and get paid by the CPA offer for that email address. Or it could be a landing page where you advertise and send people on to an affiliate product - that you'll be paid a percentage of. Almost every aspect of making money on the Internet revolves around these two simple concepts - divert traffic to the location of your choice, and convert that traffic into money. Almost every Internet Marketing product that shows you how to make money online deals directly with these two aspects... Obviously, in more detail than I'm discussing here - but if you can clearly break down the basic operation of a successful affiliate marketing campaign, you can't help but to be successful! Not all methods of earning money online are of the simple 'Divert, Convert' type... There are a few businesses that don't need to divert traffic... Google, for example, isn't diverting any traffic - they provide such a unique and powerful service that they get this traffic naturally. If you can come up with a similarly powerful service to sell on the Internet - then you can eliminate half of the 'divert, convert' formula. But I'm just an ordinary guy, with an ordinary education - with an average understanding of Online money making possibilities - so I'm going to stick with the simple formula that works... divert the traffic - then convert it.
